Advantages and Disadvantages of Hardwood Floors Part I

Whenever you are having floors installed, it’s important to realize that like everything in life, there are advangates and disadvantages to different types of floors, including hardwood. In this article we detail why you should or should not get a hardwood floor installed and how to decide what material to use for your next type of flooring.

Advantages:

  1. Easy to Clean

Hardwood floors are incredible easy to clean. Unlike carpets which absorb liquids and gels and are incredibly easy to stain, hardwood floors are much easier to clean, usually requiring nothing more than a simple mop and bucket.

This is especially useful if you have kids, animals, or any other sort of messy creatures living in your house.

  1. Durable

Hardwood floors are incredibly durable and are able to take significant abuse before they begin to show signs of wear and tear. Once again, if you have kids or animals who drop things around the house on a regular basis this is incredible useful.

  1. Color and Style

Hardwood floors are incredibly unique with no two floors being exactly the same. All of the hardwood floors come with different types of grains of wood, different colors and stains, and you can easily customize them whenever you get tired of the color.

Unlike carpet which requires that you remove the entire floor and replace it if you want a change, with hardwood floors, you can simply buy a bucket of paint or special stain and move your furniture out to get a fresh new look to your floor.

In next week’s article we are going to cover the disadvantages of hardwood and how you can decide whether it is right for you or not.
